I emailed Hard Rock Hotel to try to clear up the whole.."Do we need a ticket? Are our Ticketmaster tickets good?" ...etc. mixup. Here is my reply from the Box Office Supervisor:

In answer to your question most of the answers you received are correct they just apply at different times or for different events. In the case of Paolo Nutini, since it’s still over a month away we won’t know whether we will offer access for hotel guests to the poolside concert area until the week of the event. Hotel guests are given access to the pool at different times of the day, but in case you aren’t aware of how our hotel is set up, we have two pool areas one of which has an obstructed view of the stage. Ticketmaster tickets or tickets bought in person from our box office are the ONLY way to ensure access to this event. Then, depending on the shows capacity, the running length, the artists specifications…. as well as various other factors we will alert the hotel guests if they will have access to our pool concerts.

Hopefully this answered your questions, I know how frustrating it can be to try to firm up vacation plans and have one thing snag the whole process. If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Yep, that's pretty much what I finally got out of them too. I'm comfortable now just knowing that they've given two different people the same answer on two different occasions. I think we've found somebody who might just know what they are talking about. Yippee!

I just got this email from the Hard Rock Box Office Manager:

We’ve actually just made the decision to allow hotel guests access to the remainder of our pool shows. That being said the way that this policy works is two registered hotel guests per room will receive free wristbands, an additional two guests staying in the room may purchase wristbands for $75.00 a piece. So in your case since there are quite a few of you, maybe figure out how many of you should purchase tickets or keep your tickets through ticketmaster (since they are a lot less than $75.00).

Then if for example, you had 10 people in your party, you had two hotel rooms, and all of you purchased tickets through ticketmaster, four of you could refund your ticketmaster tickets. The remaining 6 should hold on to their tickets so they won’t have to pay the additional wristband fee.

So, actually, there are only two of us in my room, so I guess I may have two tickets up for grabs, after all. I will probably just hang on to them just in case there are problems once we get there, but if it turns out I don't need them, would be glad to give them away instead of someone having to pay $75 for one.

Yikes! $75!!! What was the ticket price at ticketmaster?

Yeah, I'd keep those tickets until I got that wristband around my wrist. However, didn't someone say that there is more than one pool area and something about a restricted view of the stage. I hope getting those wristbands and giving up your tickets does not mean you'll end up in the restricted view section. Frowner

Geezo...that all sounds pretty complicated, reminds me at buying train tickets in the UK Big Grin

But maybe this is Vegas as it's best LOL...where EVERY place is a venue and an entertainment temple. Be sure which wristband or ticket would be needed for the loo... Cool

Oh, yeah, I would hang on to them.... that would totally suck, if you gave/sold them away and it turned out that you needed them. That would SO freak'n suck...lol

I just don't understand why this has to be so freaking complicated. I had a voicemail from one of the Hard Rock managers yesterday but haven't called him back. He was actually calling me about the cabanna we are trying to reserve. I'm hoping that since he is involved with the management of the pool and access to it he might have some information regarding the show set up as well.

Either way, I'm keeping the tickets I got through ticketmaster. I don't want to get stuck without proper acess to the show I'm in Vegas for to begin with.

So people actually STAYING in the hotel have to pay 3x as much for tickets as someone who got them in advance online and isn't staying in the hotel. Wow! That just screams "RIP OFF!"

Really? I've never had trouble. Just go to the little travel office in the station and ask for a Single or Return ticket to your destination at the cheapest price possible around the time you want to leave.

Well, a wristband is easier than guessing whether or not you're going to be charged 30p to use the loo in the first place (sometimes it's not clearly posted, and you don't have to pay at every public loo you encounter) and then having to dig around in your pocket to find change. :P
