Paolo was fab last night at the Apollo (I bet that's no surprise!!). When he came on he said something about it being his biggest gig venue so far (it was sold out... packed!) and that as we'd all paid to see him, he'd better make it a good gig Big Grin He seemed happy to see so many people there for him!

First we had Will And The People & One Eskimo and I thought both were pretty good.

Then Paolo came on just before 9:30. He surprised me by starting off with 10/10! I'd been expecting him to start off with Alloway Grove as he seems to have done at the other gigs. He sang Alloway Grove next, so we didn't miss out on that one Wink He did a great set of songs for about 70 mins and then they all went off and came back for an encore.

For the encore Paolo sang 'Tricks of the Trade' and then a cover (I think) but I don't know what it was. Did anyone else go to the London gig and know what the cover was that he did? My OH didn't know it either. I did order a live cd but asked for that to be sent to me, so I can't get the listing from there yet. He finished off with a great new version of 'Last Request' Cool and it was all over too soon.

My OH Steve took some pics and a few videos but we didn't have such a good view as at Wiltons Music Hall. We were 2nd row back from the front and a security guy was standing right infront of the stage facing us, blocking our view a bit. I think he features in lots of peoples photos from last night Big Grin There was also a guy filming walking backwards and forwards infront of the stage.

I'll sort it all out and upload it Smiler

Thanks to Paolo and The Vipers for a great night out! I'm looking forward to Glasgow on 15th Oct now!

Thanks for sharing both your experience and photos Dawn, they are great, and the security didn't get in the way of your too much, thankfully!!

Excited to hear that they regigged the set list a bit, maybe means my CD's will each be an entirely different experience. Can't wait to hear the gig now!!

Dawn, thanks for the review. Sounds simply wonderful. And thank you for the great pictures. It means so much to those of us who are living vicariously through you folks across the pond.

You're welcome everyone Smiler

When Will And The People and Eskimo One were on we only had a security guy at each far end not infront of the stage Jacq. A couple more security guys came and stood infront of the stage just before Paolo came on. Maybe they thought Paolo's fan would be so overwhelmed that we'd rush the stage!haha

The videos have all finished uploading now. Here they are...

Pencil Full Of Lead
Jenny Don't be Hasty
Last Request

Edit: there were 5 videos but there seems to be a prob with the first 2. I'll upload them again.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW What a Ride!

The videos are terrific, Dawn. Thanks so much.

Much as I rue the need to security, I am heartened that they found someone who was so concentrated and alert. Mr. Vigilance in the front is a good counterpoint for Paolo to cavorting at will across the stage.

Thanks again for sharing.
