Ugh...almost 9000 feet...I get sick when I go up that high...guess i'll have to do some serious acclimating the weeks before...no Margaritas, Mojitos and White Russians for me at the festival..and it could be butt freezing cold OR hella warm...so bring layers of clothes and wear a bathing suit under it all...HA!

Kat....BIG road trip....i'm making reservations now! We'll take my car...it doesn't have a heater or air conditioner...but at least it has "reverse"...I hope we don't accidentally back over G7....tee-hee!

Fear not Forum members....I have made telluride festival more affordable...as you have seen the going rate for a one bedroom condo is $300 to $400 a nite....yes it is within walking distance of the festival...but get real!

The 4 day tickets are $175 and may sell out at any minute...if we wait to see when Paolo is playing, the individual day may already be sold out....big bummer ....so if we spring for the 4 day pass we might as well enjoy our stay.

I've reserved a Yurt at a campground 40 miles away...for 5 days starting june 18th to 23rd...yes Kat... it has mattresses....and it sleeps 6....

i tried to book something closer but the campground was $50 per nite PER PERSON plus $45 EACH for two cars...yikes...

I don't mind the commute to the yurt and back....the yurt is only $60 per nite, free parking, a semi-solid roof over our heads if it rains and even if Paolo plays only one nite we could have a mini-semi-camping vacation in the beautiful mtns of colorado as well as enjoy some bluegrass music...linens/sleeping bags are not provided but I have lots of gear to help us cook/enjoy our stay...any brave souls out there want to see Paolo and the Boys and maybe a few bears?

What's wrong with a yurt? Nomadic people in Asia live in them. Plus it's bigger than a tent and you won't have to set it up. Big Grin

True, but it's not a condo.

I also got reservations for the campgrounds nearby incase we need a place to rest during the fest and don't want to drive back to the yurt mid day...i saw sleepingspace on the livingroom floor of shared condos going for as much as $250 ....yikes...how do people afford this concert anyway...HA!

You're right it's not a condo. Staying in a condo doesn't have the same sense of adventure camping out in a yurt does.

Hope you all have fun. Wish I were going. Maybe next year! Big Grin

I'm with Laura on this one - I'd take a condo over a yurt anyday. I can do without the "sense of adventure". lol...

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be making the trip, though. However, anyone who knows me, knows it doesn't take much to change my mind. Razzer

Condo - Pft! How many chances will you have in life to live in a yurt for 4 days? The only real objection I have to it is that I'd have to drive 40 MILES to the festival and find somewhere to park there. In order to get anywhere NEAR the stage I'd have to get up at the crack of dawn and leave at 7am to get near the front of the line to get in. Unless it's like Lolla and there are loads of stages so that the main crowd continuously moves leaving a solid line of hard core fans right up front. Then I don't care.
