31 December 2008

After a good sleep, a wee shuftie round the shops and lunch in The Chippy Doon The Lane we made our way up Buchanan Street, towards our next hotel. As we approached George Square I could hear a sound-check in progress. As we entered George Square I could hear 'Down in Mexico' in progress Naturally we stayed and watched/listened until the end (an hour).

Everyone seemed to be present except Paolo but then lo and behold I glanced to my right and there along the pavement was himself

After a bit of embarrassed dithering I decided to go and say hello. Sweet Mary, what an approachable, warm, friendly, down-to-earth, humble individual! He could not have been more patient and kind, especially towards my son which meant alot to me (and said alot about him). He is a credit to his family, to Paisley, to Scotland...
(I'm getting carried away now...! )

A thoroughly decent human-being. Go Paolo! (Please, never change.)

Beautiful x 2:

(What can I say, I'm shy. I'm in the Witness Protection Programme. I'm descended from highwaymen. I don't wanna be pestered while trying to shop round Tesco. Anonymity is everything )

Sybil Fawlty here, specialist subject 'Stating the bleedin' obvious' but seriously, what an exquisite face:

I managed to intercept Gavin as he dashed out of the Square:

Slouch, roadie 'n' raconteur :

Gorgeous Boardies (second generation ):

I took several pics during the gig, the majority of which didn't work out (blurred rubbish). I regret not getting a good one of Mr McDaid as he was looking mighty-fine indeed, all smooth-shaven 'n' natty threads.

1 January 2009

A deserted Argyle Street on New Year's Day morning...

(I'll take the fella in the top-right window if you don't mind )

Back in the frozen north, four miles from home:

And that's it. The End

Thank You for sharing your pics Big Grin

Sambista - I'm glad you got home safe Smiler I bet the cats are pleased to see you Cool

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW What a Ride!

Awww, glad you liked the pics ladies

Stumbling upon the sound-check was pure serendipity and it made me very happy indeed

Oh Sambista, it was lovely to meet you too

(Blimey, what a long journey home you had. Phew. Rest 'n' relax....)

Paula, aren't the icicles something else...?? You can't really tell from the pic but they are massive - 2-3ft long. Incredible sight. Glad you liked them

Aye, aye, Hogmanay 2008 was most memorable indeed, from start to finish
