No, we did not get to hang,... BUT,.... I did bring my Scots Flag and was up close enough for them to take notice.... Mick gave me a big smile and a wave and eventually Paolo saw the flag and stopped in the middle of what he was saying and waved.... not sure but I believe that he said Hey.... Donny did take notice when he was playing..... It was the only Scot's flag in Telluride.

They didn't bring anything for the signing tent....I found out by talking to some other band's members that there was LOADS of Tequilla in back by one of the companies that is sponsoring....

Not a lot of these Die Heart Blue grasser's heard of him,.... but they do now.... He was the topic of conversation.... The new stuff came out great.... One of the members from Leftover Salmon came out.... Dave and Paolo Danced together... PAOLO FREAK'N DANCED.... and yes, I taped it... don't know how great it turned out though... enjoy the pictures.... I'll repost them when I get back to denver........... Plus post up the videos...

This was Paolo's View

Does this look familar????

Ok, I'm just about out of computer time....

Hope you all like the pictures.... I did the best that I could....

Kat, Thanks a lot for the beautiful photos you sent I regret why I didn't go but anyway I won't miss him in Vegas and for sure its gonna be a wonderful experience for us too.

I'm glad that you all loved the pictures.... That wasn't all of them as well as, they hadn't been edited. I have some good ones too. The videos aren't that great, sun glare or people bumping me. A lot of the pictures, were difficult,.... SUN GLARE!!! OMG SUNGLARE!!! The pictures of the view.... was nothing. I don't know if I could capture the extraordinary gorgeous VIEWS that were to be seen there,.... I could walk through the town itself in less than 15 minutes, but everywhere you turned there was a gorgeous site..... it is unexplainable unless you actually see it. Yes, you will see gorgeous pictures, but individually, they are just pretty pictures...... A couple of times, I was so wowed by the sites and sounds that I took a picture, turned a bit, took another piture etc,.... etc,.... I am hoping that I can put them in order so you can see just a slight turn you were again gasping at what you were looking at.

THE BOYS

1st... YES, all of their hair was longer.... Looks like none of them have had a hair cut in months..... but I was GOOD with that....I was looking at our favorite boys with the newbies!!!..... It was FREAK'N AWESOME!!!! The show itself,... I was soooo overwhelmed at seeing them again, you all were lucky that I got ANY pictures.... honestly I thought of each and everyone of you!!! I thought if I didn't at least try, there would be disappointment all the way around. So, I tried not to drop the ball. I couldn't remember songs that Kimp was asking about.... I remembered that I loved them and just was mouthdropp'n in awe of them all over again!!!

Not only was Paolo the best that I've EVER seen him perform, but the festival it's self was AMAZING. I have already decided that I'm getting on with planet bluegrass. I want to be working for them next year. Off times..... volunteers/employees of Planet Bluegrass get back stage.................... enough said.

We were disappointed that he didn't come out, but,.... to be honest, I really didn't expect him too. Apparently with major record labels etc.... and them putting stuff in the merchandise tent becomes a bit complicated for the venue management. I didn't get the whole story, but it sounded stupid, then I heard it several times from other people who worked for them, as well as another band.... so, I guess the story that I heard wasn't just spunned B.S. Anyway, that morning, I knew, when I didn't see any of Paolo's merchandise, I was pretty sure that he wasn't going to make the signing tent. We did hang back by the area where they go by, but I was pretty sure that we missed them,.... saw a couple of vans pull out,... next day, heard from a couple of guys up in Mountain Village that they saw them leaving a condo and getting into a van..... I got pictures of Mountain Village and it was even MORE of the OMG Views...ha ha ha...

Last year when he played Denver, I thought that he was great,.... Dallas, I thought that was ONE of the best shows that I had seen. This show,....the energy, The excitement, The expression of all of him, i.e. heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears,.... just blew me away. He was fantastic. You could tell that he WANTED to be there... that he was EXCITED to be playing there with so many old great artists as well as new ones. I loved each and every slight error and PAOLO DANCING!!!! It was all I could do,.... to keep from crawling out from my own skin....Him dancing, was nearly the highlight!!!! during the singing part, I turned to get a crowd shot,........... and oh, what a mistake it was,... I was spinning back around trying to capture what I had just seen,.... Dave had come out and two stepped with Paolo.... It was hysterical....

I can't explain just how seeing them perform again,.... all new and rested and fresh,.... it was just the freak'n best!!! They had old material, new material, and new covers. It was fabby!!!

Now, time to cover some things....

Gold star to Bib,....Yes, that was Gavin,... such a cutie with a fab smile. He not only plays the blowy things,.... I saw him playing the keyboards, although it was Michael playing the keyboards on Last Request....... Teaboy and Seamus,.... EXCELLENT!!!! They will certainly work out, no doubt about it. Dave has such stage personality. Donny was looking really good and still plays them strings like he was born with his hand on that guitar. Michael,... well he was looking really good.... He should don the cowboy hat all the time,... it suits him. They had some stock musicians there too.....banjo...etc....

Voice,... Paolo's voice was just as strong and commanding as before, if not more.... I don't know what you may have heard on that stream,... but what we heard was PAOLO!!! Better than ever!!! It was amazing,.... he had a crowd...., but not full, about 4 songs into it,.... everyone was BAM,.... SLAMMED BY Paolo.... the area squeezed people.... When he did Funky Cigarette.... the entire crowd went crazy.... I thought the version in Dallas was good.... He topped that in Telluride....

Now, the videos and the rest of the pictures won't get up until tomorrow sometime. I don't have strong enough internet yet,.... I'll be getting my new internet card tomorrow, but not until later in the day..... As soon as I can get it up, I will post immediately!!!

I will try to get some photos up though..... I'll post!!!

I can't wait until Vegas!!!!!!

Thanks for the recap but don't give me all the credit. Michelle and I were talking about the new sounds and she remembered Gavin from the Earth concert thingy. I just happened to post and answer first.

Greetings, everybody, from back in Colorado. I thought you might like to see the full set list from the show. Titles in parenthese are unconfirmed titles, so if you've got better information, please post. I'm not on this forum much, so if you don't mind, drop me an e-mail at owenperk@aol.com if you have any corrections or questions.

Paolo Nutini
Telluride Bluegrass Festival
June 20, 2008

1. Alloway Grove
2. My Father
3. New Shoes
4. Tricks of the Trade
5. Candy
6. (He Feels He’s Getting Old Before His Time)
7. Funky Cigarette (with Drew Emmitt and Rob)
8. Everybody's Talking
9. These Streets
10. High Hopes
11. Coming Home To You
12. Pencil Full of Lead
13. Mellow Down Easy
14. Last Request
15. (Sleepwalking)
16. Ritalin
17. Jenny Don’t Be Hasty

E: Charlie and Barbara Ferguson celebrating 20 years of Craig Fergusonrunning the festival.

The encore was kind of a mix-up. Paolo had planned to come back with "Rehab," but this surprise celebration got in the way. Ferguson was probably as upset about it as anyone, and said he'd have to bring Paolo back next year for it.

Does anybody out there have a recording of Paolo doing "Rehab?" I'd love to stick it on the end of the tape as a bonus cut of what should have been.

Thanks!

Owen

From PlanetBluegrass.....
Greetings Festivarians,
The sounds and images of Telluride's 35th feel like they were just yesterday: Darrell Scott opening the Festival with his inimitable "Colorado, I need healing;" John Oates joining Sam Bush on Saturday night for a reggae/bluegrass take on "Maneater;" Paolo Nutini and one of his bandmates jubilantly dancing arm-in-arm across the Shellman Memorial stage; the Colorado sky filling with the white specks of hail during the Duhks and marshmallows during the Swell Season.
We can go on and on. But we'd have to mention every single set of music: from Yonder Mountain String Band's kick-off to the spectacular closing set from the House Band. We'd have to mention the McCoury Boys at the Sheridan, the screenings of Béla Fleck's Throw Down Your Heart, and the Elks Park collaborations with Tim and Brett, Darrell and Tift. And we'd have to control the goosebumps, the spine tingles, and the deeper emotions that made this 35th gathering of Festivarian Nation pure magic

Hey owen... thanks for the information. I was there and a bit disappointed that we didn't get an encore.... I definitely agree that they need to bring him back next year.

Actually, drop me an email, and I might be able to help you on that rehab...lol... or at least turn you in the right direction....

thanks again...

Owen, if at some point today you hear what can only be described as a "funny scratching sound," that's the sound of all the boardies here pencilling in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival on their 2009 calendars.

Right Girls? Wink
