16 and over is considered an adult in terms of relationships and someone can't be prosecuted for statutory rape (having consensual sex with someone underage).

If the person is under 16 and agrees to sex, it's still legal rape because they are not of legal age to consent (making sense?)

That's for Australia, U.K. and I'm pretty sure America?

In Australia, the law is different.

If she were under 16 it would be illegal. My sister is 17, so he is getting away with it. 13 months ago, he would have been charged with statutory rape. There is nothing I can do but wish death upon him. Oh well.

The law here is no diddling "kids" under 18 if you are over 18. In there case I think it was mostly the lie-listen to me -like I know them!??

this is very sad, u taking so much care for ur lil sis... is there anything ur parents or relatives can do? somoen maybe "older" she listens to??? sorry if i am intryudying but it seemss like u want to take it out of your chest....

a friend of mine is going through something similar, well, kinda, her litte 15 year old sis is dating a 19 year old guy who dated his own sister.... we realized that confronting the little girl was not going to help to make her break up with the perv, inverse psycology may work.... make her understand that it is bad for several reasons but still show support... u will be there for her, but wont be a shoulder for her to cry on when things go bad because "you told her" already it was ogoing to happen

My son is going to be 17 in a couple weeks and I can't imagine anyone 25 being interested in him now that I think about that. He is still a baby -well to me anyway. That is creepy Charliegirl-hope it ends well-if possible- for her

18 is a different story i think. You are hopefully more mature then?!

I was 19 when I met my boyfriend, and he was 27.My parents were not pleased.Especially when I moved to California with him Eeker

After the first year and the birth of our son, they calmed down.

I hope "Jenny" is kicking herself.Hard! Wink

In Spain's the same as Uk.
I know a girl who was 16 when she met this man, he was 29. Imagine...it was scandalous!
today, after 4 or 5 years, they're still together and happily married. But the worst part is that when her dad knew about the relationship went to the guys job, waited for him and when he came out hit him. But the guy did NOTHING showing great respect for her and her family. Things changed since then and her dad did too(with time,of course)..sometimes works and sometimes just doesn't...
let's see what happens in the future...*crossing fingers*

I read this here Clicky
It has a couple quotes from Paolo about the Jenny story!

"Basically, the album is an autobiographical journey, a diary if you like, of my last three years," he says.

It follows his departure from his beloved Paisley to his arrival in the sprawling London (with the title track's aching lament, "Where it takes you about an hour to cross the road/Just to stumble across another poor old soul"), to his experience with women. Rewind, for example, concerns his first sexual experience at the age of 16 ("When I kissed you in the hallway and took you straight to bed"), to Last Request's pleading for "one last time" before he and his girlfriend split up. And then there’s the aforementioned Jenny Don't Be Hasty, about an older woman he met last year in London's 12 Bar.

"She was 23, see, so I told her I was 22 - and she believed me," he grins. "In fact, I was 18."

Things were going well, the sex was terrific, but three weeks down the line he decided to come clean. Imagining the scenario before it happened, Paolo was convinced they would laugh about it, have a couple of drinks and then tumble into bed. It didn't quite turn out that way.

"She told me to f*** off, to get out of her face," he laughs. "A few days later, I got a text from her, confirming my dismissal. I haven't seen her since."

For some of you newbies...

Here is a great interview that you can pretty much hear the entire story straight from his mouth....

I love listening to him and I love this entire interview. It's very free flowing and natural. Most of us regulars have heard this interview several times, but it's good. You can actually download it From BattyAnn's multiply site, but if you don't want to download it, you can watch all 6 parts here. also, if you put his name in the search there is a couple of other snipets that they have too....

If you have similar interests age shouldn't be a factor, (this is coming from one who is currently going out with someone 15 years her junior...lol). When I was 27 I dated someone who was barely 18. No it wasn't a forever match made in heaven, but we had a lot in common. Age wasn't a factor at all...he knew how old I was and I knew how old he was.

Personally, I bet she now feels a bit silly for getting so upset about it. The only thing that she should have been mad at was the lie... as small as it was,.... especially since I'm sure that she never ever lied about anything like that in her short lifetime either.....lol

hmmmmm...this Jenny chick...I am just really suprised that after all this time she has not even tried to contact him. Odd to me. Not that she would make a big deal or anything. Just kinda weird that NO ONE has heard a thing out of this girl. I mean, she dated the guy, they were obviously intimate and I am just suprised she has not attempted to so much as contact him...well, he says she hasn't anyway.

I don't know, if someone wrote a song about me and I saw it on VH1, mad or not, I would at least say something...thanks, kiss my ass, who do you thing you are...SOMETHING!!!

It just bugs me.

Maybe Jenny could come along and do a retort song like - "f**K it, I don't want you back" and "f**k you right back" by Eamon and Frankee respectively.

Remember those classic, lyrically-rich, songs a few years ago?
(no?????????? Google it...)

Maybe Jenny's retort could be

"Paolo, I've disgraced me..."

I'd never marry you,
coz you're not 22
You're one that I won't see,
The ageist fool is me

I'll tell you who made these rules,
it was my friends from school,
That's who I'm answering to....

Oh Paolo, I've disgraced me
No, don't treat me like a lady
I don't deserve this tribute to me
Take me back I plea......

Cute neeky! Ya know I would try to reclaim him if it was me-but I wouldn't have kicked him out in the first place-lie or no lie(I say this knowing this is a fantasy world I am living in)
