Well, I needed some time to recoop from the Mile High Festival. I never did hook up with Crock, but there were over 50,000 people there. On Sunday there was WAY more than 50,000 people. I've never, I mean Never seen that many people in one place. It was insane. The heat was pretty wicked but,...I always had my water bottles filled, (except while I was emptying them).....
I posted on Sunday morning that I saw/met Newton again. Got a big giant hug from him. He's absolutely precious. After, Beth didn't know exactly who Gavin Degraw was so I insisted that she had to go with me to see him... well, we went over, went back stage and there he was.... getting ready to go on (literally, moments).... I touched his arm he turned and I introduced myself... I sounded like a little girl..."Hi Gavin, my name is Kat"... duh... Beth always jokes, because her line was always, "Welcome to the Mile High City"...lol Corny no matter what. He was very very gracious when he found out that we street teamed for him. VERY VERY Cute too..... Next, we huffed it to the farthest corner of the festival, went back stage of Jason Mraz... Beth saw him and his band the day before at the Bone Fish Grill taping something for innovation tv. Anyway, we get back there... and there he is,.... no shirt, no hat, no shoes... just pants... doing warm up stretches on the grass.... all sexy like,... I couldn't stop watching him even after we were climbing the steps up to the backstage to talk to Toca, his bongo player. After conversing with Toca... Jason came up. Beth had gotten me an autograph the day before, (we didn't know that these were vip wrist bands), so, I got something signed for my daughter Melissa. After Jason, we left and headed home to shower and change to meet the other band that we teamed for, (from Dallas), they were just the best too and weren't upset that most of Denver music fans were at the Mile High Festival...lol I'll have pictures of that gig on my multiply in a couple of days. I didn't take any pictures of back stage and only a few of in the artist tent, because we didn't want to look like dorks,... and tourists in the artist tent. We definitely wanted to look like we belonged... On Sunday, we saw at least pieces of a lot of bands. Brett Dennen,... fantastic as ever... Oh, and I meant to mention in the Telluride Review that when I saw Brett Dennen, guess who his bass player is???? Danny McKay formerly with Sara Bareilles. I actually met up with him in the artist tent and also met his very cool and nice brother Andrew, who is too a member of Brett's band, (guitar). Didn't meet Brett though, but I told Danny that I was glad that he was playing with Brett. We saw a bit of Serena Ryder, but I hadn't seen One Republic and was dying to see them, so we huffed it to that stage,... was in the front/sidish in front of a LOT of freak'n people... and oh yes they delivered..... Back in the artist tent, we were fortunate to meet ALL of them. When talking to Ryan, who was using a cane btw, (don't know why), he was telling us that he has played a lot of festivals this summer and was getting pretty good at judging how many people were out there. He said it looked like 35,000 at least.. I agreed, because my mouth dropped when we looked up at the screen and saw how many people that were out there. After that, I had to see Leftover Salmon, (remember drew emmitt from leftover salmon played with Paolo in Telluride), and they were the best.... Actually, Beth didn't know why I was sooooo crazy about them until she saw them perform and she was hooked too. Leftover Salmon was the only act that we stayed 100% for every note for. It's just the way it is when you go to a festival.... you have to leave early from one stage to get to the other act that you want to see. After Leftover Salmon we rushed over to see John Mayer.... that was insane... there were way too many people. About 2/3 of the way, we left and headed over to the Artist tent to get hydrated and see who was there. Some of leftover salmon was there but not drew So, we were going to catch Dave Matthews, but there were tooooooo many people to really get comfortable. We went to the other end of the festival and caught The Black Crowes instead... We were feeling beat and tired. I was getting a headache from hell so I took something for it and we headed out. I mean after seeing John Mayer,... I was good with it... I was in Heaven and I had seen everyone that I wanted to see and then some.... I was a very happy girl when we left. (even happier when I got home and got a shower) So, there is the recap. I didn't take as many pictures as you might think... I did take a couple of pictures back stage of Gavin, but I would have gotten really embarassed getting busted taking pictures of Jason in that..... provocative stretching thing... geeze, ****fans self**** I did aquire some professional business cards from some photographers and more promoters... I like having that information. It seems to be coming in handy... One may never know when it may come in handy... Ok, that's my Mile High Review... sort'a... just a recap. Maybe Crock will post a really good review. As big of a DMB fan as she is, I'm sure she and her friends were parked in front of that stage and never moved..lol hope you enjoyed my review... KBCO Gallery Day 1 KBCO Gallery Day 2 P.S. Beth and I are catching Jon McLaughlin at the Bluebird tomorrow night. I'll post something about him... ttyal K@ This message has been edited. Kat holy hell how did I miss all this news about VIP passes that is so awesome... I am so jealous you got to meet so many artists thats crazy not surprising though at all...you always seem to find a way of doing these things... Im sad I didnt run into you but like you said there were soooooo many people there... not as many as Bonnaroo which is like 80,000 but it was a lot
I had the most amazing time out there even in the 100 degree weather haha I got a nice tan from it... Colorado in the summer might be the most beautiful place in the US I got the most amazing pictures of the sunset over the mountain So after getting there late and missing Eric and Newton They were great it was also my first time seeing them so that was cool for me! Then we went to Michael Franti and Spearhead who definitely didnt disappoint... Franti is one of my favorites to see live he has so much energy and gets everyone in the audience going... I got a video of him doing remote control his new song and some great pictures of him as well Then we went to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers who were so so good Mr. Petty may be old but he still sounds like he did when he started. So once the festival was over we head back to our hotel and they tell us that they dont have our reservation yeah bummer we had to drive back to Boulder and I knew I would be missing more shows on Sunday... I dont know if it is because they are so chill but people out West move slower than we do in the South haha... So anyways we ended up getting to the festival on Sunday at 3 oh my the traffic was bad we sat in it for at least an hour... so I missed Brett Dennen I am stil kicking myself in the ass for that one too and also Martin Sexton who I am seeing in the fall so that wasnt too big of a deal... but I flew out to Colorado spent money on the ticket to see everyone I wanted to see and I didnt get to see them all so I am pissed sorry I am venting so much... so at 3 we saw Tea Leaf Green who I saw at Bonnaroo and had to see again and I am glad I did because they were awesome... then we headed to Rodriga and Gabriella who are so freaking talented it is unbelievable they make you really appreciate music because it is all instrumental and it rocks... then we went to Leftover Salmon they were amazing as well like Kat said they are th best... I just love that bluegrass sound! After that we headed to John Mayer and caught about 45 minutes of him... I wasnt going to go see him because I am a fan but not a huge one but I am so glad I saw him he was great he is so freaking good on the guitar it is insane... then we hit up the Roots and I danced my ass off they killed it we stayed for there entire gig even though I really wanted to get front row for DMB haha that obviously didnt happen which is ok because it was my 6th time seeing them... Dave was a great way to end the night he played for 3 hours and his set list was so sick I dont know if anyone in here is as big of a fan of dmb as me but I am going to say the setlist anyways well what I can remember... he started with Dont Drink the Water then went into You Migh Die Trying then he played Eh Hee, Two Step, Proudest Monkey, Satellite, Corn Bread, Stay, Jimi Thing, #41, Tripping Billies, So Damn Lucky, So Much To Say, Too Much, Ants Marching, and in the Encore he played Gravedigger (I have never seen/heard him play a song off his single album Some Devil and he played two... so bad ass haha) then he played Louisanna Bayou and ended with Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) oh so amazing I want to scream and dance just thinking about it and I mean the whole festival... I wish I was still there!!! Then we left to the hotel we booked that morning which was rediculously expensive but oh well they took me to the airport for free in the morning... haha all in all I had an incredibly amazing time and cant wait to move out to colorado haha my only complaint is that they didnt have camping because if they had camping I wouldnt have missed any of the shows! Wish I had seen you Kat but maybe next time BIG Love to all... Crock This message has been edited. Last edited by: CRock, "Cause the world ahead will end if we don't have love" |

Girl... next time, take my number with you.... I would have loved camping too as I lived on the other side of town... I mean it only took me 20 minutes to get there each day....but you all could have crashed on my floor... and been there when the gates opened. We were there at 9:30 am each day... (we were also passing out these cd's from Atlantic Records ... the best damn sampler)... So, Jason Mraz was insane... we read his blog and what we were witnessing when we went back stage, was yoga... Apparently he was suffering from exhaustion and had gone for an Acupuncture treatment prior to the gig... It was still very VERY freak'n erotic though... just thinking about it turns my knees to Jelly...lol Leftover Salmon... Beth and I decided that we were going to the Halloween show at the Fillmore... I'm so in love with them... Turns out that she knows someone who is really good friends with Drew... She's going to try to work some magic for me...lolol I've been nuts about him for about 3 years, but never really had the opportunities that this year has afforded me......It was the cherry on top, when I found out that him and Paolo hit it off in Telluride. I tried telling people... but they don't understand until after seeing them... Drew is a rock n' roller that loves to play bluegrass. A matter of fact, I sent some links to Davy from back door slam, as Drew plays that mandolin like an electric guitar...Screaming it... omg... blew beth's mind... btw Crock,... where were you for Leftover?? I was in front on the right side... Right there where the guard railing bent off of the straight front line.... I actually thought that I saw you there, but figured that you were camped out by the main stage... It's a shame that you missed some of those acts... Yeah,.... we were diggin' that artist tent... especially, since we weren't sure what our bracelets were worth at first... then we realized there weren't hardly anyone with bracelets, (except artists and employees).... sooooo.... I started asking questions quick...lol Should'a hung with me...lol Well,... I'm telling you.. it was the best time... and we are trying to figure out if we are going to be able to keep this roll going on for the rest of the summer... ttyal... find me thru..... kat276@msn.com http://www.myspace.com/denverkat276 www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=730539723 http://denverkat276.multiply.com/ |

Im surprised I wasnt camped out in front of main stage too but I couldnt miss leftover they were one of my selling acts when I decided to buy the ticket they are so f-ing good but anyways I was on the right side of the stage too not at the front but pretty close and right next to the opening of the tent where you would walk in... so we were pretty close to eachother you could have seen me I could have seen you too but I dont know I was pretty mile HIGH if you no what I mean haha... I had big sunglasses on (I think??? they might have been on my head at that time actually), my hair was french braided on both sides and I had on a white tee so I might not have been very recognizable...
I really should have gotten your number and figured my shit out a little better before I left because it would have been awesome too have crashed/hung out with you it sounds like you had the absolute time of your life... I had the time of my life too but it would have been so much better if I could have seen everyone At least going out there sealed the deal on me moving there in the next couple years I just felt like I belong out there it felt like home to me as weird as that sounds... I hope you can keep this roll going for the rest of the summer too I love hearing about all of it and getting to watch your videos and see you pictures... I cant wait to hear about vegas gosh I wish I was going out there but I have to move into my apt for school so there is no way... anyways I am blabbing Im glad you had fun a Jon last night and I will talk to you later chica!! BIG BIG Love... Crock "Cause the world ahead will end if we don't have love" |

Ok, well, we've all deduced that I have an addiction to music and shows. ....... They say that the way to recovery is to admit you have a problem...lolol
Well, I did it again... .I went to a show this past weekend... (I know surprise huh....)... One of the local Radio stations "Area 93.3" had a annual big show (at a venue similar to size of Red rocks, just not as picturesque....), that they called "The Big Gig". The line up was a little harder than some might like but it was a blast. I loved it. The group (locals) Skyfox (had won the opportunity to open the main stage), Spill Canvas, Dropping Daylight, locals gone international The Flobots, Boston's Dropkick Murphy's, Paramore, then the Offspring rocked the place down. It was really good. The Flobots (like the Fray) have now gone international with the rap/rock. I liked there stuff but didn't know that much about them. I fell in love with them... they were really good. The offspring is an old favorite of mine. I didn't have VIP, but I was surrounded by VIP's. funny... they were all pre-teens...lol some were early teens... anyway, the nine year old little boy sitting next to me actually took my Offspring's Americana CD liner back stage and got it signed for me... what a gem... I had great seats... I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go so I bough my 1 ticket seperate from beth and her kids,.... my ticket turned out to be 6th row center.... (the pit was ahead of us,... but I was good with having a excellent seat. Below are the links... the videos turned out amazingly good. Take a look if you wish... back to the quilt now...lol Love this song!!! Spill Canvas - All over you Offspring: (in order of appearance and quality) Offspring 1 Offspring 2 Offspring 3 Oh and I'll be posting pictures eventually. I've still got Telluride, Warp Tour, Mile High and many misc shows to post up on my multiply before I get these up...lol Later all... find me thru..... kat276@msn.com http://www.myspace.com/denverkat276 www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=730539723 http://denverkat276.multiply.com/ |

Sounds like fun, Kat. I've liked the Offspring for a while now too. My husband and I went to see them when I was about 7 months pregnant with my son (almost 11 years ago). I guess that's where Sean developed his love of music.
And of course I know the Dropkick Murphy's. They're a lot of fun. You've got to love a band that uses bagpipes! They've sort of become the official band for the Boston Red Sox and I just love "Tessie" and the story behind it. Tessie |
