Paolo doesn't speak french very well...just watch the you tube video of the performance he did on french radio/t.v....so he wouldn't write comments in french at all...this is definitely Paolos voice (100 percent!) but the boy is just representing himself as the singer of the song and it looks as if his close friends are in on it...

I don't think this is a lost cell phone song...the date of the myspace profile creation is a little too early compared to the time he lost it...but the you tube post time is closer to the time he lost it...but I still think too early...it seemed like he lost it in early december...

and the song itself sounds like a compilation of earlier ideas...lay down beside me/you etc...with similar intro and chords ala last request and the recording quality is very good....too good for a phone voice memo...Paolo would have to of recorded it then downloaded it on his phone... not very likely

It is possibly taken from a radio station studio Promo for a gig last year(Quebec Canada maybe)as we have never heard the song here in the US(didn't Paolo perform at a festival in Canada?)He has sung some different songs at radio station sessions before ...usually he sings covers but why not a song he was playing around with or was a These Streets CD song wannabe that didn't make the grade/cut? That is my best guess...

It is extremely less likely an outtake from the These Streets recording session or the new recording session...
(and of course we all know he sang "I wonder" already)...!

My guess is it is a Canadian Radio station session that the kid is using as a joke/wannabe music myspace...
but none the less ...

And now here's my analysis as to why I think it is NOT Paolo singing the song...oh I love a good mystery like this ....HA!

The voice is very Paolo-like ..mimmicing the style and accent and all...but the words to the song are too repetious..and not quite interesting enough...not crafted enough...and the song lacks complexity in the music...no interesting tempo changes or chorus...in short a little boring...without true passion...

the two videos are obviously different versions of the song and I doubt if a radio station would let Paolo play the song twice...they usually rush thru it and send you off to your gig...so points go toward the home recording of the two versions of the song by the kid...

A comment in the myspace comment session from a friend(?) suggesting he do Paolo covers is just a nod to his vocal wannabe style...and the next single of "I Wonder" which is already a cover that Paolo has done would imply the kid was going to do a cover of Paolo's cover..double wannabe...Ha...can't wait to hear how he covers it...


what do you guys think...an unfinished/early Paolo song sung by a subdued Paolo or a wanna be kid in Canada that tries real hard to sound and compose like him with a parallel universe kind of background regarding his life?

The reactions to this guy is very positive. I just hope that he makes it. As far as Paolo is concerned he is just fine. Bobby is just another fan who adores him that much that he's imitated Paolo Nutini right down to his phrasing. Imitation is a form of flattery.

I did listen to the song over and over, I have it on mp3 now (ooppss.... )I have it on my Ipod and went to bed listening to it. There are differences to Paolo's vocals and song style. Though it may have sounded like the real Paolo at first glance, it really isn't. But hat's off to Scotfan, AKA Bobby, he's pretty good.

Crush...Scotfan/Bobby is paying homage to Paolo by imitating his voice and song style as best he can...I think he does a fantastic job and I can't wait to hear him sing 'I Wonder'but..

of course he lacks the one thing that makes Paolo a star and that is Authenticity!

The ability to sing/write from his deep true self...I think it was the thing Mr. Ertigan looked for...

Bobby can (convincingly so ) sing (nicely on key) with the same pitch,vibrato,close phrasing etc. as Paolo's voice...
but what is lacking is the passion in the individual notes,the rise and fall of emotion that is perfectly blended to the inflections in Paolos voice...
Paolo is reliving in his BREATH what he has experienced in his life...

he is able to express what is REAL in himself as a unique individual..and that is the special Paolo passion that we love to hear...

and because his GIFT is the ability to transmit his unique passion in his voice ..he is REAL!...
and we feel it at the same time when we listen to him...lovely, lovely Paolo!

P.S. I don't think Paolo is the type of person that would chat on the forum..he seems reserved about sharing his thoughts directly with strangers...and now that he is becoming a star, I think it is for the best...he has had a lot of demands made on him with his career from strangers and probably his friends and family are very grounding for him...

We should not take away the possibility that Bobby really did NOT want to imitate Paolo and he's just trying to find his own voice. I think everyone in music, when they first start out were probably experimenting with their vocals and then stuck to whatever works. You have to remember Paolo did the same thing, case in point, his Bedford songs. If Paolo did not do a lot of talking in those recordings, we would not know it's him, not until we became fans and Paolo connoiseurs did we know it's him. But what do I know, Bobby is a young lad, all of 18 and already created a discussion like this. He has to have something.

I don't seriously know what to think....... he sounds so like him....lets see....i have to hear more times to have an opinion....wtf!
