I absolutely LOVE this song! Maybe Kat or Kimpy could tell us if that was Paolo trying to whistle. If it is, I think somebody needs to give our boy some whistling lessons....OK, OK , I"ll volunteer. PUCKER UP, PAOLO!!! Smiler Big Grin Wink

My hopes are high
But my eyes can’t believe what they see
Oh, give me something to believe in, give me something to believe

I’ve got lucky in life, and had plenty to eat
And I saw this world as one big bowl of opportunity
Oh but there’s too much mind corruption
Too little remedy
Oh that’s how it seems to me
We all need a moral education to set our minds free

My hopes are high
But my eyes can’t believe what they see
Oh, give me something to believe in, give me something to believe

So let us change what we can, and accept what we can’t
And impart some of the wisdom from the tried and tested man
There’s no harm in being wrong you know,
In fact to me it’s common ground
Don’t you think so?
So take that feather from your cap sir, and pass that feather around

My hopes are high
But my eyes can’t believe what they see
Oh, give me something to believe in, give me something to believe

I didn't like this song when I first heard it, but now it's become one of my favorites. Smiler

Paolo's not the best whistler. He also had problems whistling during this performance of "Daydream". Sorry for the shakiness...I was laughing so hard when Paolo couldn't whistle, that I almost dropped the camera. Big Grin

I was suprised Paolo put whistling into one of his new songs after
"Daydream." Smiler Yes, he's a brave man... If he wants to whistle, however, I'll be right there to listen!!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

RE: Lyrics to "High Hopes" possibly:

quote:
And I saw this world as one big bowl of opportunity

"I saw this world as one big pool of opportunity" ???

I heard "bowl" at first, too... then I started hearing "pool" so not sure just which it is???

quote:
We all need a moral education to set our minds free

"We all need a moral education to set the young minds free" ???

Love this songs message... Cool
This world can be so insane...
And I think Paolo definitely has something great to believe in, judging from some of his songs...

I think his issue here in CO., was that it was really dry.... I have one of those after the song's over whistle that I do occassionally, (especially in big open area's), well, I had issues doing it up there..... dry dry dry...

I remember this video cause Sambista showed it to Ali and me when we were together in Paris... and believe it or not the first time I heard the "whistle part" in High Hopes I was thinking about that funny "incident" in the video... Anyway, I did like High Hopes at the first listening and I really like Paolo's voice on it. Sorry I wish I could say more but the lack of vocabulary... Even if I read as much as possible the board and chat sometimes with some boardies, even after 1 year and a half, I haven't improve my english that much...
But let's finish with a good thing : "I’ve got lucky in liiife, and had plenty to eeeat"

It says 'My Hopes are High' on the back of the Snake Derrick T-shirt

I'm guessing its a reference to this song?
