Paolo had a great interview on BBC Scotland yesterday and he sang the most touching, new cover song - which I adore. I don't know how to make it into an Mp3, or I would. Here is a link and lyrics to the song. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do. I first heard it thanks to mabingham. She uploaded the radio show to seegrim's LiveJournal. Thanks so much, ma! This song has made me cry more than any other he's done. He didn't sing the entire song as it's performed by Arcade Fire, but it is very beautiful the way he chose to do it. Smiler

"Wake Up" by Arcade Fire

Covered by Paolo on BBC Radio Scotland, October 15, 2009

Begins about 1:21:00 into the broadcast:

Lyrics to Wake Up :

Somethin’ filled up
my heart with nothin’,
someone told me not to cry.

But now that I’m older,
my heart’s colder,
and I can see that it’s a lie.

Oh, oh, oh...

Children wake up,
hold your mistakes up,
before they turn the summer into dust.

If the children don’t grow up,
our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up.
We’re just a million little god’s causin rain storms turnin’ every good thing to rust.

I guess we’ll just have to adjust.

Oh, oh, oh...

Somethin’ filled up
my heart with nothin’,
someone told me not to cry...

It brought to mind the Bible verse:

"...unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3

Thank you, Paolo! Great song. Cool

Thanks so much for putting that link up. What a great interview! I swear everytime i hear Paolo speak i just adore him even more..But it breaks my heart to hear him talk about breaking into the states..He is sooo much more of a star than he even knows..All of these so called "big boys" have to rely on light shows and props to put on a good show....Not our Paolo!!
I know i am doing my part to spread the word over here about him. He will be a big star in the United States..I'm confident of that!
Thanks again for that! By the way, that interviewer was great!!

Really good work indeed on "Wake Up", I love this song and I remember when I first saw Arcade Fire on stage in 2005 @ Rock en Seine festival in Paris, I was so delighted, it was such a great show. So well done again, Paolo and Vipers ! Really good live of Coming Up Easy too... With all the new stuffs like "Alone Again Or" and "Such A Night" covers, it seems like nurse is back in "Paolo's bubble" for good...

I'm so happy you all enjoyed it - I was floored. It was such an unexpected surprise. I loved it immediately. He's added so many new and wonderful covers lately.

Lynn: I've been working on getting a local station to play his music, it would be nice if others would make requests to their local stations, too. That might help a bit. They have played some of his music in their Acoustic Cafe program lately. "Tricks of the Trade" and "Simple Things". It's a program that is carried by several radio stations around the country, and maybe internationally, I'm not sure about that. But if stations will not play his music regularly, how will he become known to a very large audience? Word of mouth only goes so far... I liked the interviewer, too. Very friendly.

mabingham: Thank you so much for getting someone to make an mp3! I'll be looking forward to it. Again, thanks for uploading the show. It might have taken me awhile to remember that it was going to be on and find it. Smiler

Nurse: It's great to hear from you again! Always loved your posts. And you are so kind.

It would be nice if Paolo recorded this song along with "Such A Night", "Alone Again Or", "Forget It".... I'm sure I'm forgetting a few... And I haven't heard "Love Potion Number Nine", which I heard he did recently. I REALLY want to hear that one. I LOVED it as a child, and had a lot of fun singing it. Big Grin

Thank you for reminding me of Paolo's song with Zazie. I haven't listened to it in awhile. It was nice to take a little trip back in time. Cool

Both this new cover and Duo are beautiful songs.

This is /g*#%o[+dd´~¨{]¤{ f"¤¤ng exactly why I am 100 percent fulltime Paolo fan! (Sorry bout the language).
He gets me - as with a violent force - straight inside me - where it not only hurts or feels good, but where he hits such a lot of emotions, with such violent force, that it almost makes me cry. Not because it's bad feelings, but because the emotions is so powerfull and strong - sometimes it is almost unbearable - but, yes, as you know, - I just want more!
