He gets me - as with a violent force - straight inside me - where it not only hurts or feels good, but where he hits such a lot of emotions, with such violent force, that it almost makes me cry. Not because it's bad feelings, but because the emotions is so powerfull and strong - sometimes it is almost unbearable - but, yes, as you know, - I just want more!

hahha Bente you're so sweet! Big Grin and absolutely right! Cool

This song has made me cry more than any other he's done. He didn't sing the entire song as it's performed by Arcade Fire, but it is very beautiful the way he chose to do it. Smiler

"Wake Up" by Arcade Fire

Covered by Paolo on BBC Radio Scotland, October 15, 2009

Begins about 1:21:00 into the broadcast:

Lyrics to Wake Up :

Somethin’ filled up
my heart with nothin’,
someone told me not to cry.

But now that I’m older,
my heart’s colder,
and I can see that it’s a lie.

Oh, oh, oh...

Children wake up,
hold your mistakes up,
before they turn the summer into dust.

If the children don’t grow up,
our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up.
We’re just a million little god’s causin rain storms turnin’ every good thing to rust.

I guess we’ll just have to adjust.

Oh, oh, oh...

Somethin’ filled up
my heart with nothin’,
someone told me not to cry...

I've been listening to "Wake Up" much of the day today. Still loving it. Nice to have others enjoying it along with me.. Smiler

debber - Aren't the interviews just the greatest! I'm always looking forward to the next one. Sorry, Paolo, but I do love hearing from you...

Bente - I understand, and yes, it's not a bad feeling at all. His music, and following his career, has gotten me through some of the roughest times in my life. I don't think I'll ever get enough of him; and like you, I always want more... In my life, at this moment in time, he is more valuable than gold to me. Smiler

Lynn - I went through a very long phase where I mostly listened to Paolo alone. I would listen to the songs he mentioned, then I started listening to the songs that reminded me of him, as well. So many of the songs or artists that he talks about were favorites of mine as I was growing up. Many of the oldest ones he mentions, I listened to with my mother. It's all very meaningful to me.

I hope you have success with your radio campaign!

I had a favorite video I watched several times a day for months. It was "Jenny Don't Be Hasty" from the Savonnerier, Brussels, Belgium in 2007. The quality of the video is rough, but Paolo's really on fire in it. I love how he can express such a wide range of emotions through his music. So gentle in one song, then you can almost see the "animal in his eyes" (as he sings about in "Beeswing") in another song. He is very intriguing to me.

Still really looking forward to an mp3 of "Wake Up". Smiler

Thank you, Mary Anna! Smiler

I've been listening to it over and over a great portion of the day now. I've had it on in the background as I've gone about various activities. I don't want to turn it off yet. I love how it automatically repeats. I'm a happy camper.

I could listen to Paolo sing the Oh, oh, oh's forever... lol. Beautiful, very emotive song.

WOW! Every time I come back on the forum, there’s some new gem – amazing! What a good cover.

I love Arcade Fire (go Canada!) and really liked the stuff they did with Bowie. Now every time I see the ads for “Where the Wild Things Are” I’ve been singing this. (“Wake Up” is not on the soundtrack CD or in the movie though, just the trailer. A shame.)

Thanks mabingham and all!
