In Scotland you got only 2 seasons : Winter and......when it gets really cold ! ---------------------------- "Every fear I swallow makes me small, it's not the way it has to be...I have my fears, but they do not have me" Peter Gabriel http://misstrouble.multiply.com/ |

Well, I don't have a kilt story but I have this.
When I was in Edinburgh several years ago, I stayed in this lovely little b&b. The bed was piled with blankets and topped off with a thick down comforter. Well, with all that, and it being summer (in theory only I learned) I wore only a t-shirt and shorts to bed. I nearly froze my bum off when I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Seriously, it felt like the dead of winter to me. What just about killed me was what I overheard the next morning in the dining room. A man and woman were talking about I don't know what, when the man said to her, "Well it's a good thing we didn't go up to London for the weekend. It's hot there!" Now I'm used to temperatures in the high 80s which I think is in the in the 30s Celsius, right? This is normal summer weather and I had travelled up from London to Edinburgh for the weekend. The whole of the time I spent in London the weather was like a lovely Spring day here in Chicago. So, I didn't know whether to laugh or be horrified that he could think that it was hot in London. It was all I could do to keep from telling him, "Then it's a damn good thing you didn't go to Chicago then isn't it?" That summer the temperature was in the high 90s, or about the high 30s almost 40 in Celsius, I think. This message has been edited.
