Thanks Cat!
Just came from work & rushed to my computer to check for news. I must have exaggerated (just a little) about all day, but i do play Paolo's songs few at a time several times a day so not to irritate my co-workers. They don't seem as impressed with his music as i (their loss). The problem is the radio would only play his released songs which i know by heart by now. I also listen to a whole lot of other singers/bands (can't imagine my life without music). What do you think of James Blunt? For some reason, most of the public here in North America are only familiar with "You are Beautiful", but unaware of his really great songs: Goodbye my Lover, No Bravery, Tears & Rain. These are the right songs for us sensitive people. Smiler

Nice talking to you!

I work for the City here in Denver. The particular office that I work in, there is no privacy. Current I have a grunt job, so to speak, but,.... I am up for a big promotion... The boss wants me for it, so I would say that I am in but, one never knows.

Fortunately though, I can listen to music all day long, and only occassionally disturb someone else with my occassional singing...lol

Maple... can you use an MP3 player with headphones. I do... I would make my co-workers insane if they had to listen to what I listen to...lol I LISTEN to everything,... I truly have ecclectic taste. I listen to Rock, blues, soul, fusions like rock/hip hop, rock soul (one of my favs I must admit). The only thing that I don't listen to is ACID/METAL/Death Metal and Gansta rap. I can live the rest of my life without those two genre's BUT,... everything else is good with me. I love really old blues and soul.

It was funny in Telluride that Paolo got to meet and hang out with Drew Emmitt. I just love him and Leftover Salmon,... Drew recently interviewed in CMT magazine and stated that he was just an ol' rock musician that played Bluegrass. I'll be seeing them at the mile high fest on sunday...... I'm just as excited about that as I was to see Paolo.... Leftover Salmon, I missed the night that Paolo played. We left early... I'm not missing them this Sunday though...

LOL! A friend of mine (on another continent) recommended James Blunt to me becuase she loves the album and Goodbye My Lover was her favorite. So I bought it and fell in love with Tears & Rain.

Usually an artist only releases 2 or 3 songs form an album to have played on the radio, so if people don't have the album, then all they know is You're Beautiful and maybe one other song.

I wish Back Door Slam's "Come Home" got half as much airtime as "You're Beautiful." It would be great if it got played each hour during the morning and afternoon commutes. A little something to get people going in the morning and something to jazz up the ride home. Smiler

I'm almost afraid to say how much I like James Blunt here on Paolo's forum... Paolo doesn't have any ill will towards him exactly, as far as I can tell from his interviews, but I don't think he has a great fondness for him either... I love several of James' songs... I haven't heard Tears & Rain, though... I'll check out youtube... I love "No Bravery" immensely. Sad, political song... but, then again, I love songs like that. I like it when an artist can voice the deep political emotions so many are feeling...

The great sense of passing through...

Hi guys,
we are not allowed to wear headphones at work as we get calls, people come asking questions, etc., so my co-workers have to cope with my musical tastes.
Speaking of James Blunt...forgot to add "Cry" to the list, very nice song about friendship. Also, i would recommend to watch his interview highlights, i am sure you will have a lot of fun just as i did!

Since i started this discussion, let me mention a couple of other singers i like. Hope you know James Morrison, love his husky voice and his passionate singing. His album "Undiscovered" is full of wonderful songs. Recently started listening to Jason Mraz. He is good, i like his song "Details in the fabric" where he sings together with James:

Also, try listening to Damien Rice, his lyrics are so soulful.

To my shame, i am not familiar with all the names Kat has recently mentioned. Suppose, will have to do some serious research during the weekend.

Sorry for trailing off the initial topic, but i did explain earlier what i do for living, didn't i? Wink
