What do you do, when you are off this forum?

A curious questions, and you don't have to respond. Nobody is obliged to anything.
But you are welcome to share whatever you want.

What dreams do you have?
How are you and your family?
What is the most important thing in your life?
Do you have a favorite book?
What is your job?
Do you have pictures of your life and your loved ones, which you want to share?

You don't have to write anything - or you can write what you want - or just read what others write.

I'll start by telling:

I've been married for almost 17 years. I've got two wonderful daughters on 14 and 16 years, who are both doing well in school and socially.

I am a trained social worker and I'm working specifically with industrial injury cases in a trade union. It means I both have to provide compensation to the injured part, and represent them to the municipality and assist in getting them back into work.

In my spare time I work as a volunteer at a womens shelter.
Socialpolitical awareness is important to me at all times.
However, most most importantly are, to behave decent, to be a good person and respect others, regardless of who they are.

Hi BeWall - I knew we had things in common even for being 1/2 way around the world. I use to do the same work as you,or at least part of it. I was a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant. We coordinated between the worker, insurance company or the state, employer where workers were injured, attorney, doctor, made a plan for re-employment (school, etc.)went to court, found a job for them and got them hired or back to their original job if they could physically do it. It is wonderfully fulfilling but frustrating at times, yes?

I became disabled and now sell books worldwide on the internet and do eBay selling as well.
I live alone now with two boy cats in a house that is loaded with cowboy & indian things, along with Paolo momentos. Across the street is my friend of 40 years (I taught her to drive) and she travels the world while I take care of her cats. She loves the ballet, figure skating and music....I played Paolo for her and she's hooked. She went to Sweden this year for World's figure skating competation and loved the country and the glass shops. Well, enough...I have to travel for 4 days now and won't be at a computer as I am going to another state. Take care and when I get back I will look forward to reading the postings. Cathleen

Laura, I love your picture of you and your mum. Such a beautiful lady and you are a cute baby, too.

Me, I am a nurse for almost 25 years. I was obstetrics nurse for 18 years. Now I work for a program that helps uninsured woman get mammograms and pap tests for free.

My family is a husband of 31 years, 2 children, 1 grandchild, 2 cats and a dog.

The older I get, the more I enjoy doing nothing. My goal is to get to see more of the world, little by little. Currently trying to plan a trip tp UK next year.

That is a beautiful photo of you and your mum, Laura...

I'd never listened to the lyrics of the Mariah Carey song before but they certainly are emotive, especially this bit:

And it's true that you've reached a better place
Still I'd give the world to see your face
And be right here next to you
But it's like you're gone too soon
Now the hardest thing to do is say bye bye

My mum died in the summer of '94 when this song was numero uno for what seemed like forever. It eventually got on alot of people's nerves, but not me, as it always reminded me of my mum (and of course still does).

(And on a more prosaic level, what's not to like about Marti Pellow? )

Hey Schneckie, thanks!
I love the song that it's for your mum too!
This of Mariah Carey is so beautiful, I really like the part that you wrote and this one too:
"And you never got a chance
To see how good I've done
And you never got to see me
Back at number one"

That was the exact other part I was going to quote...

I would love to see more photos. They are so beautiful. So sad to lose your Mommy, but when you are only five it must have been so, so hard for you.
