It's been quite easy for me to start a band because I knew all the right people to get me started. One of my best friends is a talented drummer, he can also play guitar, bass and a bit of keyboard. He also has his own shed-studio and all the right equipment and software for recording. Another one of my friends owns and runs an online radio station and can also help with recording. I also know a talented photographer who has offered to do promos.

It depends how old you are I guess. I'm 16 so I've just left school, which was good for me because it was full of musicians. Unfortunately, most of them were stupid, arrogant, stuck-up scene boys who didn't want to know me. I was learning how to play bass, but thought I'd never get the chance to form a band because I was afraid of what they'd think of me. Then I made friends with a boy in my woodwork class and he introduced me to his friend (the drummer I mentioned earlier) who I am now really close mates with. He's got way more musical talent (and better taste) than those silly emo kids. And, he's helped me become more confident and more open minded about the music I listen to.

You can put up adverts in music shops or in NME magazine saying "I'm a bassist looking for a band"

First off I totally agree with you Emily that your friend has more talent then Emo Kids trying to make a band, and another thing bout Emo bands they all sound alike.

Secondly to the asking Kai about leaving Hard-Fi not a chance I would even ask him if I ever had the chance cause hes a far better Bass Player then I will ever be, but yeah if I did take over for Kai I would do it.

Thirdly I like the idea about putting an advert in magazines about about Bass Player looking for a band to be in.

We (my band - Herculean) have just finished recording our debut EP which will be called 'Down South EP' (which we will be releasing on Monday 27th October 2008). We'll only be making around 55 physical copies to send out to record companies but if anyone would like a copy just leave a comment of request on our myspace or bebo page, you can also contact us via the contact page on the official website (all links given at bottom). Or if you want, you can even leave a comment on this thread. I'll send the EP via email, so it'll be free but if you've got any questions or anything just email me > stur27@hotmail.com. We've put the first track up on our myspace page and our bebo page, it's called 'All For You' hope you's like it...
