I haven't posted on here in ages! and got to say returning back on scene it's a bit dead beat to say the least, I think things will heatup as more news comes in on the new album. So I've decided, to try and get the forum back on track by making an exciting thread, about the new album. Like all Hard-Fi fans, I can't wait to hear the new stuff, just to hear how the band have progressed since the last record and, as a fan of the songwriting I can't wait to hear what Rich comes back with.

O.K, so basically the idea of this thread is to mark down every detail we've got so far for the new album. I'm guessing it will be alot different than the first two, I think it'll be alot more American (not American punk, but more 1950-1960's America), which akes me even more impatient, due to the amount of great American songwriters in the world, I've got to say it's one of the greatest (if not the greatest) country for for songwriters. Basically all I know of the third album so far, is that it's quite heavily influenced by American (maybe 1950-1960's) music. I'm guessing Rich will want to spend the first half of 2008 writing, so my guess is, I doubt they'll start recording until October, but then again, with their own studio, they can record any time they want, so who knows, they could have already started demos? I also remember back in Winter, they mentioned going to Nashville, some people argued this news was about Carbon/Silcon (due to the two bands being mentioned in the same article) but I think it's very possible that this could be Hard-fi due to their new sound.

Any more news on the third album, I'll keep posting, please do the same and maybe we can build a better picture.

My guess is the album won't be out until Autumn 2009....

Autumn 08 - early summer 09 = recording, then by the time, tours, promotion and mixing of the album is done doubt it'll be til next November.

Also forgot to mention, we should keep track of any new song titles we hear of, especially when the band go to Fuji, as Rich said they might play a couple of new numbers.

I think go for more mid 60's rock like The Who or something like that. I would find that pretty cool.

Really like your posting and totally agree with your guess. The way the third album seems to take looks great, may be it’s only expectations, but with the few informations we have i think you’re all right!! Off course if i hear something i will share and post-it on this Forum, and i hope everybody will do the same… and may be the band will give us some signs. They seem to be « open on the world » to progress and give a new sound and make a different album and i really like this open mind. (Sorry i don’t know how to explain in English, hope it makes sence !!) Can’t make Fuji, but can’t wait to hear the new stuff, hope that someone will give us the opportunity to listen to it.
Hard-Fi are good, Richard is a faboulous songwriter they seems to be on the right way. I’m really confidente Smiler
There is nothing to worry about now, just have to wait

I'm sure, because it's a festival, it'll be filmed which could likely result in us hearing the new stuff via youtube. Can't wait!!! Smiler

I'd say Hard-Fi get more interesting with every album.
I prefer Once Upon A Time In The West, because it wasn't the sort of album I fell in love with immediately. It took a very long time to grow on me, whereas when Stars Of CCTV came out, it was my new favourite album (at the time) straight away. I'm older now though, I guess my taste in music has changed since I first joined this messageboard, a million years ago (Edit: Actually almost three years ago)

I hope they go a bit 50's-60's America.

I feel the same too!Stars of CCTV was an instant favourite of mine while Once Upon A Time in the West took several weeks to grow on me.Although I still like the debut a bit more,I'm very happy that they've made considerable progress with the follow-up album.OUPATITW deserves more appreciation than it's received.I think those who have criticised the album are really lazy people and lack the patience to listen carefully to an album which absolutely has got great depths and interesting elements.Diversity is one big reason that I like Hard-Fi's music and it makes them stand out from all the other bands who became popular around the same time.I'm very much looking forward to their third album.Surely they will bring some nice new surprise, just as they've done with the previous two albums. Big Grin
